Prime Minister Mark Carney promised Friday to launch the greatest transformation of Canada’s economy since World War II during his first press conference after his election victory.
“This will be an incredibly exciting time as we take control of our economic destiny to create a new Canadian economy,” he said.
Carney and his Liberal Party won a historic victory on Monday in snap elections focused on President Donald Trump’s threats to Canada’s economy and its sovereignty.
“Canadians elected a new government to stand up to President Trump and to build a strong economy,” he commented, adding that Canadians also want his administration to tackle the high cost of living.
“As prime minister, I’ve heard these messages loud and clear, and I’ll act on them with focus and determination.”
Next Tuesday Carney will travel to Washington to meet with Trump to discuss trade and security issues.
“Our focus will be on both immediate trade pressures and the broader future economic and security relationship between our two sovereign nations,” said Carney.
He announced also that he would unveil his new minority Liberal government the week of May 12th and parliament would return on May 26th.
King Charles III will deliver the opening speech, Carney said.
All well & good for Carney to change things in Canada but…HOW he can do this with the same old…same old people who were VERY complicit in following TruDOPE’s policies that got us into this mess in the first place?? Jolie..Anand…Fraser , to name a few…who were like rat’s abandoning the sinking Liberal ship came scurrying back when the ‘miracle’ of Carney appeared are STILL there..incompetent…totally out of their depth..in Carney’s’new’ government. IF he ‘cleared out the deadwood’ would think more of him. I get the feeling that Carney is open to working’with’ Pierre in Opposition than ‘against’ to help Canada through the time of ‘the orange blowhard’ in the U.S. praying 🙏 this is true. Time will tell.
Time will tell what Carney is really all about. We know people don’t change their stripes and Carney is clear about his views on resource development versus blind pursuit of alternative energies, zero carbon emissions and hiding the ridiculous carbon tax. I guess we will see who he appoints to his cabinet, but if he surrounds himself with the same fools that supported Junior we will know what his end game actually is…WEF great reset. Carney is deeply embedded in the WEF and I doubt that he has any interest is severing his relationship with all things WEF as their manifesto mirrors everything Carney believes in. Our problems are not caused by Trump who has been in office for a few months. Rather we have inflicted economic disaster and dropping productivity on ourselves at the hand of Junior and his WEF sycophants. Canada has just elected a smarter Junior Trudeau. Shame on us.
